Our History
The Very Thing, Ltd. was founded in 1926 as the Neese-Shoffner Furniture Company. With a reputation as the North Carolina Piedmont area's premier furniture store, Neese-Shoffner sold only the finest in home furnishings and accessories. In 1974, it was reincorporated as The Very Thing, Ltd., and soon became known for its fine antique furnishing and interior design. Today, The Very Thing serves clients in the Southeast and is renowned for offering custom draperies and upholstery, unique antique furniture, unusual lamps and chandeliers. We also carry a vast inventory of antique European linens and fine Hungarian goose down pillows and down bedding.
Leigh S. Jones
Leigh S. Jones joined the firm in 1980 as the principal designer after graduating from East Carolina University with a major in Interior Design. She has been a professional member of ASID for over thirty-five years. Leigh has participated in numerous ASID Symphony Show Houses as well as Junior League Show Houses during her career. Our clients range from high-end residential to commercial. Leigh works with her clients to think creatively and work outside their comfort zone to achieve great design.
